ALSO KNOWN AS:
KORONI, KRITIKIA, LANDOLIA, PSYLOLIA
AREA OF ORIGIN:
GREECE
DIFFUSION AREA:
Greece, such as Crete and Samos.
TREE:
A tree of medium vigor with a spreading habit and an open canopy. The leaves are elliptic lanceolate short and narrow.
FRUIT:
The fruit is small ovoid and slightly asymmetric. It ripens early and yields are high and constant.
AGRONOMICAL CHARACTERS:
An early bearer it also flowers early and produces lots of pollen. Often planted with Mastodies as a pollinizer.
OIL CONTENT:
Very high. The oil is greenish, with a light, fruity flavour. It has a good shelf life.
HARVEST TIME:
Early fall (September) in Greece.
OTHER CHARACTERS:
It is resistant to drought but does not tolerate the cold. It is resistant to olive leaf spot but sensitive to olive knot. The oil is high in oleic acid and very stable. The fruit is tightly attached and not suitable for machine harvest.
